Fitness Liability Disclaimer

Effective date: June 8, 2026 · Last updated: July 7, 2026

Read this carefully before using PaceNova.

Running and other forms of exercise carry inherent risks, including the risk of serious injury or, in rare cases, death. By using PaceNova, you agree to the acknowledgments and limitations set out below.

1. PaceNova is not medical advice

PaceNova generates personalized training plans, race-time projections, and pacing recommendations using statistical and machine-learning models trained on data from other runners. The Service's outputs are informational only and do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or professional coaching.

We are not licensed physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, or certified running coaches. Information provided by the Service is not a substitute for advice from any of those professionals.

2. Consult your physician before starting

Before beginning any training plan generated by PaceNova, especially if you have not been physically active for some time, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional. You should be especially cautious — and seek medical clearance — if you:

  • Have a heart condition, high blood pressure, or have had a stroke
  • Experience chest pain, dizziness, or fainting during exertion
  • Have asthma, diabetes, or any chronic illness
  • Have a history of musculoskeletal injuries
  • Are pregnant or postpartum
  • Are over the age of 45 and have not exercised regularly
  • Take medications that may affect heart rate, balance, or hydration
  • Have any other condition that may make running unsafe for you

2a. Maximal-effort Fitness Checks

PaceNova may periodically suggest a short “Fitness Check” — a hard, maximal-effort run (typically 1.5–3 miles) used to calibrate your fitness score, training paces, and race projections. Maximal exertion places significantly more stress on your cardiovascular system than everyday training, and carries real risks, including heart-related ones. Before your first Fitness Check the app asks you to acknowledge these risks; that acknowledgment does not replace medical advice. If you have any of the conditions listed above, or any doubt about your readiness for all-out effort, talk with your physician first — and know that Fitness Checks are always optional: you can skip or discount any check, and PaceNova will continue to estimate your fitness from your regular training instead.

3. Assumption of risk

By using PaceNova and following any plan or recommendation it generates, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with physical training, including but not limited to: muscle strains, joint injuries, stress fractures, tendon injuries, dehydration, heat- or cold-related illness, cardiac events, falls, and accidents during outdoor running.

You acknowledge that no training plan can eliminate the risk of injury, and that even well-designed plans can cause harm if applied to an individual whose body is not ready for them.

4. AI-generated outputs are estimates

Race-time projections, fitness scores, fatigue assessments, injury-risk indicators, training paces, and what-if scenarios produced by the Service are estimates based on statistical models. They are not guarantees, predictions, or medical opinions. Actual outcomes depend on many factors outside our knowledge or control, including your individual physiology, injury history, recovery, nutrition, sleep, weather, course difficulty, and life circumstances.

We make no warranty that following a PaceNova plan will produce any specific improvement, race time, fitness gain, or absence of injury.

5. Listen to your body

You are responsible for monitoring how you feel during and after training. Stop and seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of the following while following a plan or workout from PaceNova:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
  • Severe shortness of breath disproportionate to your effort
  • Sudden dizziness, light-headedness, or fainting
  • Sharp or sudden joint, muscle, or bone pain
  • Numbness or tingling, especially on one side of the body
  • Any other sign that something is seriously wrong

Adjusting or skipping a workout when you feel unwell is always the right choice. The Service's plan should never override your judgment about your own body or advice from a qualified medical professional.

6. Heart-rate and pace data

PaceNova may use heart-rate data, pace data, and similar physiological metrics that you log or import. These metrics are provided by your devices and platforms (such as watches, phones, and connected apps) and may be inaccurate, delayed, or missing. You should not rely on them as a precise indicator of cardiovascular health or exertion. If you have any concern about your heart rate or other vital signs, contact a qualified medical professional.

7. Pre-existing conditions

We do not screen for pre-existing medical conditions. If you have a medical condition that may make running unsafe, you should not rely on the Service to detect or accommodate it. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting or continuing any plan.

8. Outdoor running risks

Running outdoors carries additional risks beyond those of physical exertion alone, including traffic, wildlife, uneven surfaces, weather, and crime. You are solely responsible for choosing safe routes and conditions, wearing appropriate gear, and taking precautions appropriate to your environment.

8a. Using the in-app run tracker safely

PaceNova's optional GPS run tracker is a convenience for recording your run — it is not a safety or navigation tool. Do not look at your phone, interact with the app, or rely on its map while running near traffic, on uneven ground, or anywhere that demands your attention. Keep your eyes on your surroundings; stop in a safe place if you need to use the app. The route it displays is a record of where you ran, not a recommendation of a safe route, and it does not account for traffic, road conditions, closures, crime, or hazards. Distance, pace, and location shown during a run are sensor estimates and may be wrong or delayed — never depend on them to judge your position, effort, or safety. You are solely responsible for your attention, decisions, and safety while running, whether or not you are recording.

9. Release of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Quantik Digital LLC and its officers, members, employees, contractors, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, and causes of action arising out of or related to your use of the Service or any plan or recommendation it generates, including without limitation any injury, illness, or death sustained during or after training.

This release is in addition to, and does not replace, the disclaimers and limitation of liability set out in our Terms of Service.

10. Acknowledgment

By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Fitness Liability Disclaimer; that you have considered your own physical condition; and that you are using PaceNova at your own risk.
